Treatment of peripheral and central neuropathic pain, adjunctive treatment for epilepsy, improvement of fibromyalgia.
This medication is used to treat peripheral and central neuropathic pain in adults. It also helps as an adjunctive treatment for partial seizures in epilepsy patients. It is effective in alleviating symptoms of fibromyalgia. Therefore, it is widely used for various neurological and pain-related disorders.
This medication is administered orally without regard to food, divided into two doses per day. 1. Neuropathic Pain - Peripheral Neuropathic Pain: Starting dose is 150 mg per day, which may be increased to 300 mg within 3 to 7 days, and if necessary, can further increase to a maximum of 600 mg every 7 days. - Central Neuropathic Pain: Starting dose is 150 mg per day, which may be increased to 300 mg after one week.
The safety and efficacy data are insufficient for children under 12 years of age and adolescents between 12 and 17 years, so administration is not recommended.
This medication may increase the risk of suicidal thoughts or behavior, so any mood changes or symptoms of depression should be reported to a healthcare professional immediately. It should not be taken if there is an allergy to any of its ingredients or if there are specific genetic diseases such as lactose intolerance. Diabetic patients should be cautious as weight gain may require adjustments to their blood sugar control medications. If serious allergic reactions such as angioedema occur, this medication should be discontinued immediately and a healthcare professional should be consulted. Elderly patients should be careful as dizziness or drowsiness may increase the risk of falls, and they should consult a healthcare professional if the symptoms are severe. If there are any changes in vision or blurred vision, they should be reported immediately. Abrupt discontinuation of this medication can lead to withdrawal symptoms like insomnia, headaches, and anxiety, so dosage should be reduced gradually as instructed by a healthcare professional. Due to the possibility of drug abuse or dependence, patients with a history of drug abuse should be particularly cautious and report any unusual behavior immediately. Patients with reduced kidney function may require dosage adjustment. Patients with heart disease should use this medication carefully due to the potential risk of heart failure. When used in conjunction with central nervous system depressants such as opioid analgesics, the risk of respiratory depression may increase, so caution is advised. Pregnant women are advised not to take this medication during early pregnancy due to the risk of fetal malformations and fertile women should use effective contraceptive methods. Breastfeeding women should discuss with their healthcare professional whether to discontinue nursing or this medication, as this drug can be passed into breast milk. During driving or operating machinery, care should be taken as dizziness and drowsiness can increase the risk of accidents. Serious skin reactions such as rashes, fevers, or mucosal damage may occur during the use of this medication, so any abnormal symptoms should lead to immediate discontinuation and reporting to a healthcare professional. In the case of overdose, symptoms such as drowsiness, confusion, depression, and seizures may occur, requiring immediate medical attention.
Hives, severe swelling (edema), angioedema, facial, oral, and upper respiratory swelling, chest tightness, difficulty breathing, cold sweat, pallor, severe rash with fever, blisters, skin peeling, pain in mucous membranes of mouth/eyes, severe skin adverse reactions, pulmonary edema, shortness of breath or difficulty breathing, asthma attacks, respiratory issues accompanied by cough and fever, jaundice (yellowing of the skin or eyes), extreme lethargy, liver abnormalities.

This medication should be stored in a tightly sealed container to protect it from air and moisture. It is important to maintain a storage temperature between 15℃ and 30℃. This will help preserve the medication's efficacy.
