Precautions

This medication may irritate the gastric mucosa, so patients with upper gastrointestinal diseases such as gastritis, esophagitis, or esophageal ulcers should be cautious. It should be taken with a sufficient amount of water, and the patient should not lie down for at least 30 minutes after ingestion to reduce the risk of esophageal irritation. If symptoms such as pain or difficulty swallowing in the esophagus or heartburn occur, discontinue use immediately and consult a physician. Patients with diseases that slow esophageal transit, severe renal impairment, hypocalcemia, and pregnant or nursing women should not take this medication. The absorption of this medication may be interfered with if taken with calcium supplements or antacids, so they should be taken at different times. During treatment, it is advisable to ensure adequate intake of calcium and vitamin D, and consider taking supplements if necessary. This medication can rarely cause pain in bones, joints, or muscles, so if symptoms are severe, consult a physician. Rare side effects such as osteonecrosis of the jaw may occur, so patients requiring dental treatment should consult their physician beforehand. Long-term use may lead to low-energy fractures in certain bones, so it is important to consult a physician if persistent pain occurs. Safety for children and adolescents under 18 has not been established, so use should be avoided. Elderly patients can use it, but some elderly may be more sensitive to medications, so caution is needed. Overdose may lead to hypocalcemia, gastrointestinal disturbances, etc., so the prescribed dosage and directions must be strictly followed. Pregnant women should not take this as it may affect the fetus, and it is also advisable for nursing women to refrain from using this medication.
