Precautions

This medication should not be used in patients who have previously experienced severe allergic reactions or shock due to this drug. It should also not be administered to patients who are allergic to similar classes of antibiotics, those with infectious mononucleosis, or patients with problems digesting lactose. When using this medication, particular care should be taken with patients who have had allergic reactions, those allergic to penicillin, individuals with a family history of allergic conditions, and patients with severely impaired renal function. Patients who find it difficult to take orally, elderly individuals, or those with poor overall health should be carefully monitored as they may exhibit symptoms of vitamin K deficiency. Patients with gastrointestinal diseases, especially those with a history of colitis, and those allergic to the yellow dye No. 5 included in this medication should also be administered with caution. This drug can rarely cause shock or severe allergic reactions; if symptoms occur, the use should be immediately stopped, and appropriate treatment must be sought. Various side effects such as decreased blood cell count, liver dysfunction, renal dysfunction, gastrointestinal disturbances, and respiratory problems may occur, so it is crucial to report any unusual symptoms immediately. In particular, if symptoms like fever, cough, or shortness of breath develop, pulmonary-related side effects should be suspected, and immediate consultation with a healthcare professional is advised. Long-term use of this medication may require regular blood, kidney, and liver function tests, and patients with diminished kidney function may require dose adjustments. When used concomitantly with other medications that may stress the kidneys, attention should be paid to the potential worsening of kidney function, as some medications may increase the concentration of this drug in the body. Women who are pregnant or may become pregnant should only use this medication cautiously when necessary, and nursing mothers also need to be careful. Elderly patients may experience side effects more readily due to reduced bodily functions, so adjusting the dosage and intervals of administration while closely monitoring their condition is important. This medication may cause false-positive results in certain urine tests, so caution is advised when interpreting test results. Lastly, this medication may cause light-sensitive reactions, so it is recommended to avoid direct sunlight during use.
