Improvement of essential hypertension and heart failure (left ventricular dysfunction)
This medication is used to control essential hypertension, which is high blood pressure of unknown origin. It is also effective for patients with heart failure, particularly those with left ventricular ejection fraction of 40% or less. It may help slow the progression of heart failure and improve heart function. It is used as an alternative treatment for patients who are undergoing ACE inhibitor therapy but require additional treatment or cannot tolerate ACE inhibitors well. This medication stabilizes blood pressure and reduces cardiac workload, thus enhancing overall cardiovascular health. Therefore, it is used to treat essential hypertension and heart failure with reduced left ventricular function.
1. Essential Hypertension Adults: The recommended initial and maintenance dose is 8 to 16 mg of Candesartan Cilexetil, taken orally once daily. If blood pressure is not adequately controlled after 4 weeks of treatment at 16 mg once daily, the dose may be increased to a maximum of 32 mg once daily. The maximum effect is observed within 4 weeks of starting treatment. 2. Heart Failure Adults: The recommended starting dose is 4 mg once daily.
