This medication is used for the treatment of gastrointestinal diseases such as gastric ulcers, duodenal ulcers, Zollinger-Ellison syndrome, and gastroesophageal reflux disease. It is also effective for preoperative dosing to prevent Mendelson's syndrome and for treatment of ulcers following surgery. It is utilized for the treatment of gastric and duodenal ulcers resulting from the use of non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs). It helps improve gastric mucosal lesions caused by acute gastritis, acute exacerbation of chronic gastritis, and acute stress ulcers. Additionally, it is used for the treatment of peptic ulcers and acute gastric mucosal lesions caused by upper gastrointestinal bleeding. Overall, it is effective in treating and protecting the gastric mucosa from damage.

This medication should not be used in patients with hypersensitivity to any component of the product or a history of acute porphyria. This medicine contains lactose, so patients with genetic problems such as lactose intolerance or galactose intolerance should not take it. Patients with impaired renal function may experience increased blood concentration due to difficulties in drug excretion, necessitating dose adjustment. Patients with impaired liver function should also use this medication cautiously. Patients with a history of drug hypersensitivity or the elderly should use this medication with caution. When taken with non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs, especially for the elderly or those with a history of peptic ulcer, regular monitoring is required. This medication may conceal symptoms of gastric cancer, so patients with gastric ulcers or middle-aged patients who recently developed indigestion symptoms should verify malignancy before taking it. Patients with gastric or duodenal ulcers infected with Helicobacter pylori require eradication therapy. During the course of this medication, serious allergic reactions such as anaphylactic shock, urticaria, and angioedema may occur, and if symptoms appear, use should be discontinued immediately. Blood tests may reveal abnormalities such as leukopenia or thrombocytopenia, so symptoms like fatigue, bleeding, or fever should be discussed with healthcare providers. If symptoms of liver dysfunction or jaundice occur, discontinue use immediately and seek medical attention. Neurological side effects such as dizziness, drowsiness, seizures, or confusion may occur, so caution is advised, and use should be stopped if abnormal symptoms arise. Musculoskeletal symptoms such as myalgia or rhabdomyolysis may occur, and use should be stopped if symptoms are present. Skin reactions such as rashes or hair loss may occur rarely. Regular blood, liver, and kidney function tests should be conducted to monitor condition while on this medication. If experiencing dizziness or drowsiness, avoid driving or operating dangerous machinery. This medication may interact with other drugs, so any other medications being taken should be reported to healthcare providers. Women who are pregnant or may become pregnant should only take this medication if the benefits outweigh the risks, and it should be used cautiously during breastfeeding. Safety in pediatric patients has not been sufficiently established, so caution is necessary. Elderly patients may experience increased blood concentration due to decreased renal function, so dose adjustments may be required. No specific toxicity has been reported in case of overdose, but symptomatic treatment such as vomiting or gastric lavage may be necessary. This medication should be kept out of the reach of children, and transferring it to another container is not advisable for maintaining quality. Long term use may lead to bacterial overgrowth in the stomach due to decreased gastric acid secretion, so caution is needed.
