Treatment of essential hypertension and reduction of cardiovascular disease risk
This medicine is used to treat essential hypertension. It also helps reduce the risk of cardiovascular disease in high-risk patients over the age of 55, such as those with a history of coronary artery disease, peripheral artery disease, stroke, transient ischemic attacks, or evidence of damage to target organs due to diabetes. It protects patients' health and improves symptoms by lowering the risk of death from myocardial infarction, stroke, and cardiovascular disease.
1. Essential Hypertension As Telmisartan, take 40 mg orally once daily with water, and it can be taken regardless of meals. Depending on the patient, 20 mg once daily may also be effective, and if necessary, it can be increased to 80 mg once daily. The maximum blood pressure-lowering effect will appear 4-8 weeks after increasing the dose. 2. Reduction of Cardiovascular Disease Risk It is recommended to take 80 mg orally once daily with water, and it can be taken regardless of meals.
This medicine can cause serious harm to a fetus and newborn, particularly during pregnancy; therefore, it should be discontinued immediately upon confirmation of pregnancy. Patients with allergies to this medicine or its ingredients, pregnant or nursing women, patients with severe liver impairment or cholestasis, patients with hereditary angioedema, and patients with certain kidney diseases should not take this medicine. Elderly patients or those with high potassium levels, impaired liver function, heart valve disorders, or severely reduced kidney function should use this medicine with caution. This medicine is used to lower blood pressure and may cause various side effects including infections, blood disorders, allergic reactions, hyperkalemia, hypoglycemia, dizziness, hypotension, respiratory difficulties, and digestive disorders during use. If symptoms of angioedema or severe allergic reactions occur, discontinue use immediately and inform healthcare personnel. Regularly monitor kidney function tests and serum electrolyte levels, and consult a doctor immediately if symptoms worsen. This medicine may interact with other antihypertensive agents, diuretics, lithium, and certain analgesics; therefore, it is essential to inform the healthcare provider about any other medications being taken. It is safest to avoid this medicine during pregnancy, and nursing mothers should either avoid it or stop breastfeeding. It is not recommended for children or adolescents under 18 years due to lack of confirmed safety and efficacy. In case of overdose, hypotension, dizziness, and acute renal failure may occur, necessitating immediate emergency treatment; this medicine is not removed by dialysis, so careful observation and appropriate treatment are required. Store the medicine in a tightly closed container to avoid exposure to air or moisture. It is important to maintain a storage temperature between 1 and 30 degrees Celsius. Storing it this way can help maintain its effectiveness for a longer period.
