This medication is used to treat erosive esophagitis in patients with gastroesophageal reflux disease and for long-term maintenance therapy to prevent recurrence. It also helps alleviate symptoms of gastroesophageal reflux without esophagitis. It is also indicated for combination therapy with antibiotics for the treatment and prevention of recurrence of duodenal ulcers and peptic ulcers caused by Helicobacter pylori infection. It is effective in treating and preventing upper gastrointestinal symptoms and gastric ulcers and duodenal ulcers that may arise from NSAIDs use. It is also used in the treatment of Zollinger-Ellison syndrome and to prevent rebleeding from gastric ulcers or duodenal ulcers. Thus, this medication improves various gastrointestinal diseases and alleviates symptoms.
