How to take

Adult dose

Adults and children aged 12 years and older: administer 500 to 1000 mg (in potency) of amoxicillin and sulbactam by mouth, three times a day.

Precautions

This medicine contains penicillin and sulbactam components. It should not be taken by individuals who have had allergic reactions to this medicine or have hypersensitivity to penicillin or cephalosporin antibiotics. Particularly, it should be avoided in patients with viral infections such as infectious mononucleosis due to increased risk of rash. This medicine contains lactose, so patients with genetic issues such as galactose intolerance, lactose deficiency, or glucose-galactose malabsorption should not take it. Patients with a history of gastrointestinal diseases or allergic reactions, those with bronchial asthma or frequent skin allergies, patients with severely impaired kidney function, and older adults should use this medication with caution. Monitoring is required for patients at risk of bleeding tendency due to vitamin K deficiency. Possible gastrointestinal symptoms include nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, and abdominal pain; in severe cases, pseudomembranous colitis may occur. Allergic reactions such as urticaria, angioedema, and in severe cases, anaphylactic shock may occur, and if abnormal symptoms appear, discontinue use immediately and consult a healthcare professional. Rarely, renal function abnormalities, blood disorders, skin rashes, liver function abnormalities, and neurological symptoms (convulsions, headaches) may occur, so regular tests and monitoring are necessary, especially during long-term use. Liver and kidney function, as well as blood status should be regularly checked. This medicine can interact with other drugs, so consult a doctor or pharmacist before taking it with methotrexate, probenecid, allopurinol, oral contraceptives, etc. In particular, the effectiveness of oral contraceptives may decrease, so additional contraceptive methods are recommended. During pregnancy, the risk to the fetus is low, but it should only be used when the therapeutic benefit outweighs the risk; during breastfeeding, it can be secreted into breast milk and may cause diarrhea or skin rashes in the infant, so caution is required. Infants and children under 6 months may have undeveloped kidney function, resulting in slower drug excretion, so administration should be done with care. Older adults may experience higher rates of adverse reactions due to decreased bodily functions; therefore, monitoring of dosage and administration intervals is essential. In the case of overdose, serious side effects such as neurological toxicity or renal failure may occur; if suspected, visit a medical institution immediately for appropriate treatment. During the use of this medicine, continuous diarrhea or abdominal pain may indicate a risk of pseudomembranous colitis, so inform healthcare professionals immediately. If allergy symptoms or severe side effects occur during drug administration, discontinue use immediately and consult with healthcare professionals.
