Facilitates sputum expectoration in acute and chronic respiratory diseases
This medication helps to dissolve mucus and promotes the expulsion of phlegm in acute and chronic respiratory diseases, making breathing easier. This makes it effective for the improvement of respiratory symptoms. It is primarily used for patients with symptoms of coughing and phlegm.
Adults: Administer erdosteine 300 mg per dose orally 2~3 times daily. When used for acute respiratory conditions, do not administer for more than 10 consecutive days.
This medication should not be used by anyone who has an allergy to this medication or any of its ingredients. Patients with liver cirrhosis or specific enzyme deficiencies should avoid this medication due to potential issues in the metabolic process. Patients with peptic ulcers should also avoid taking this medication as it may worsen symptoms. It is advisable not to use this medication in patients with severely impaired kidney function, specifically if the creatinine clearance rate is less than 25 mL/min. Patients with severely decreased liver function should also avoid taking this medication. Patients with mildly reduced liver function should be cautious when using this medication and should not exceed a daily dose of 300 mg. This medication contains the dye Yellow No. 5; individuals with allergies or hypersensitivity to this component should use it with caution. Overdosing may cause symptoms like excessive sweating, dizziness, and facial flushing. Respiratory issues such as headaches, cold symptoms, and difficulty breathing have also been reported; if symptoms are severe, consult a doctor. Gastrointestinal issues may include taste disturbances, nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, abdominal pain, and heartburn, thus requiring caution if any abnormal symptoms occur. Skin reactions such as hives, rashes, and eczema may occur. Additionally, various side effects including fatigue, dyspepsia, facial swelling, and itching have been reported, although a direct correlation with this medication is unclear. Taking this medication with expectorants can make the expulsion of phlegm difficult and increase the risk of bronchial infection and bronchospasm, so extreme caution is advised. Pregnant women, women who may become pregnant, and breastfeeding women are recommended to avoid this medication as its safety has not been sufficiently established.
Not everyone experiences these, and they can vary from person to person.
Do not take this medication in conjunction with cough medications.
This medication may be sensitive to air and moisture, so it should be stored in a tightly sealed container. It is essential to maintain a storage temperature between 1 degree and 30 degrees Celsius. This will help keep the medication's efficacy and safety for a longer time.
