This medication assists in the dietary therapy for patients with hypercholesterolemia and mixed hyperlipidemia who have difficulties controlling cholesterol levels with diet and exercise alone, particularly helping to lower cholesterol levels in children and adolescents with homozygous familial hypercholesterolemia and heterozygous familial hypercholesterolemia. It also supports dietary therapy for patients with primary dysbetalipoproteinemia, effectively lowers total cholesterol and LDL cholesterol levels, and delays the progression of atherosclerosis. It is also used to reduce the risk of stroke, myocardial infarction, and vascular revascularization in middle-aged patients with high cardiovascular disease risk. Overall, this drug is critically important for improving cardiovascular health and controlling blood lipid levels.
