This medication is used for controlling blood pressure in patients with essential hypertension. It is also suitable for severe heart failure patients whose left ventricular function is impaired and who need additional treatment with ACE inhibitors or have difficulty using ACE inhibitors. This efficacy helps stabilize blood pressure and improve heart function.

How to take

Adult dose

For the treatment of essential hypertension, the initial and maintenance dose is 8-16 mg of Candesartan Cilexetil taken orally once daily. If blood pressure control is insufficient after 4 weeks of treatment with 16 mg once daily, the dose can be increased to a maximum of 32 mg once daily. For heart failure treatment, the recommended initial dose is 4 mg once daily, with the dose doubled at intervals of more than 2 weeks, up to a maximum of 32 mg once daily.

Precautions

This medication can cause serious harm to the fetus if taken during pregnancy, especially in the second and third trimesters, so it should be discontinued immediately if pregnancy is confirmed. This drug should not be used in patients with certain allergic reactions, severe liver disease or cholestasis, hereditary angioedema, or specific genetic disorders. Special caution is required for elderly patients, those with poor kidney function, patients with hyperkalemia, and those with heart valve diseases when using this medication. During treatment, side effects such as dizziness, back pain, and respiratory infections may occur, and in some patients, serious blood abnormalities or liver function abnormalities may develop, so if any abnormal symptoms appear, medical consultation should be sought immediately. Due to the risk of decreased kidney function, hyperkalemia, hypotension, etc., regular blood tests and kidney function tests are necessary, and particular caution is required for heart failure patients or kidney transplant patients. The blood pressure-lowering effect may increase when taking this medication in combination with other antihypertensive agents or certain diuretics, so it is essential to inform the healthcare provider about any other medications being taken. Pregnant or breastfeeding women should avoid using this medication; if unavoidable, breastfeeding should be stopped. Safety and effectiveness have not been established in children and adolescents, so use is not recommended in this age group. In case of overdose, symptoms such as hypotension and dizziness may occur, and emergency treatment should be sought immediately, as this medication is not removed by dialysis. This medication should be kept out of the reach of children, and transferring it to another container should be avoided as it is detrimental to quality preservation. Caution should be exercised when driving or operating machinery, as dizziness may occur.
