This medication is used to improve symptoms of difficulty in expectoration in conditions such as acute and chronic bronchitis, bronchial asthma, laryngitis, sinusitis, and cystic fibrosis.

Dosage and Administration

Adult dosage

Acute conditions: 200 mg once, three times daily Chronic conditions: 200 mg once, twice daily

Children's dosage

Acute conditions: 6 to 14 years old, 200 mg once, twice daily Chronic conditions: 6 to 14 years old, 100 mg once, three times daily Cystic fibrosis: 6 years and older, 200 mg once, three times daily

Precautions

This medication should not be taken by individuals who are allergic to its components. Patients with ulcers in the stomach or duodenum should not take this medication. Infants under 2 years old should not take this medication. Women who are pregnant or could become pregnant should consult with a doctor before taking this medication. Breastfeeding women should use this medication with caution and consult a doctor, as it is not certain whether it passes into breast milk. If gastrointestinal symptoms such as nausea, vomiting, mouth inflammation, heartburn, or diarrhea occur during use, the medication should be stopped immediately and a healthcare professional consulted. If hives, itching, rash, headaches, tinnitus, or bronchospasm occur in asthma patients, the medication should be stopped immediately and a doctor consulted. If you experience increased heart rate or high blood pressure, you should stop taking the medication and consult a healthcare professional. Severe symptoms like difficulty in breathing may occur, so caution is advised. Taking this medication with antibiotics may reduce the effect of the antibiotics, so it is advisable to allow a minimum of 2 hours between doses. Do not mix this medication's solution with other medications. Store in a safe place out of the reach of children. This medication should be stored in its original packaging, as transferring to another container may decrease its quality or lead to misuse.
