This medicine is used to improve the symptoms of difficulty in expectoration associated with diseases such as acute and chronic bronchitis, bronchial asthma, laryngitis, sinusitis, and cystic fibrosis.

Dosage and Administration

Adult dosage

Acute conditions: 200 mg once, three times a day Chronic conditions: 200 mg once, twice a day

Children's dosage

Acute conditions: Ages 6 to 14, 200 mg once, twice a day Chronic conditions: Ages 6 to 14, 100 mg once, three times a day Cystic fibrosis: Ages 6 and older, 200 mg once, three times a day

Precautions

This medicine should not be taken by individuals who have allergic reactions to this medicine or its ingredients. Patients with ulcers in the stomach or duodenum should also not use this medicine. Children under 2 years of age should not take this medicine. Additionally, it contains lactose; therefore, patients who are genetically unable to digest lactose should not take this medicine. Women who are pregnant or might become pregnant should consult a doctor before taking this medicine. It is also important for breastfeeding women to consult an expert before taking this medicine, as it is uncertain whether this medicine passes into breast milk. If gastrointestinal symptoms such as nausea, vomiting, mouth inflammation, heartburn, or diarrhea occur while taking this medicine, discontinue use immediately and consult a doctor. Additionally, if symptoms such as hives, itching, rash, headaches, tinnitus, and narrowing of the bronchial tubes in asthma patients appear, notify a healthcare professional immediately. This medicine may rarely cause side effects such as rapid heart rate or elevated blood pressure, so caution is advised. Symptoms of difficulty breathing have also been reported, and if these symptoms occur, stop taking the medicine immediately and consult a healthcare professional. This medicine should be taken at least 2 hours apart from certain antibiotics, as taking it together can reduce the effectiveness of the antibiotics. Mixing other medications into this medicine's solution should also be avoided. This medicine should be stored in a safe place out of reach of children, and it is important to keep it in the original container to maintain its quality.
