Improvement of gastric and duodenal ulcers and gastritis treatment for Zollinger-Ellison syndrome and other gastrointestinal diseases
This medication is effectively used for treating gastrointestinal diseases, including ulcers of the stomach and duodenum, gastritis, gastroesophageal reflux disease, and Zollinger-Ellison syndrome. It also helps in the prevention and treatment of post-surgical ulcers and is used for gastric and duodenal ulcers caused by non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs). It may also be administered prior to anesthesia to prevent Mendelson syndrome. This medication is helpful in improving various gastrointestinal diseases.
Generally, take 1 tablet orally twice a day, irrespective of meals, in the morning and before bedtime. 1) Gastric and duodenal ulcers: Take 1 tablet orally twice a day or 2 tablets once a day before bedtime. Particularly, for duodenal ulcer patients, taking 2 tablets twice a day in the morning and at bedtime increases the treatment rate. 2) Gastroesophageal reflux disease: Take 1 tablet orally twice a day for 8 weeks, or take 2 tablets once a day before bedtime.
This medication should not be used in patients undergoing dialysis treatment. Patients who have experienced an allergic reaction to this medication or its components should avoid taking it. This medication should not be administered to patients with a history of acute porphyria, as it may worsen their symptoms. Patients with kidney function problems or renal impairment should avoid using this medication. Patients who have undergone upper gastrointestinal surgery should also avoid using this medication. Women who are pregnant or may become pregnant should not take this medication. The safety of this medication has not been established in premature infants or neonates, so it should not be administered to them. Patients on a potassium-restricted diet should also avoid using this medication. Patients with liver function problems should use this medication with caution, and those with a history of drug allergies should also be careful. Elderly patients or those with a history of renal impairment require more careful monitoring when taking this medication. Patients taking non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs, particularly elderly patients or those with a history of peptic ulcers, should undergo regular check-ups. This medication may mask symptoms of stomach cancer, so patients with gastric ulcers or middle-aged patients who have newly developed dyspeptic symptoms should confirm malignancy before use. Patients with Helicobacter pylori infection and gastric or duodenal ulcers need eradication therapy. Care should be taken when administering this medication to severely ill ICU patients due to the risk of gastric stone formation. Patients with hypophosphatemia should be cautious, as this medication's components may interfere with phosphate absorption. Patients with swallowing difficulties may have a risk of respiratory complications after taking this medication, so caution is needed. During administration of this medication, very rarely, severe allergic reactions such as anaphylactic shock may occur, so the administration should be stopped and medical personnel notified immediately if symptoms appear. Allergic symptoms such as skin rash, hives, angioedema, fever, bronchospasm, and hypotension may also occur rarely, and administration should be discontinued if these symptoms appear. Blood tests may rarely show abnormalities in blood counts, such as leukopenia or thrombocytopenia, and immediate consultation with a physician is required if symptoms occur. Rarely, liver function abnormalities may occur, and administration should be discontinued if jaundice or hepatitis symptoms appear. Cardiac arrhythmias or irregular heartbeats have been reported very rarely, so patients with heart disease should exercise caution. Gastrointestinal side effects such as nausea, vomiting, constipation, diarrhea, and abdominal pain may occur but are generally mild. Neurological side effects such as dizziness, drowsiness, confusion, and seizures may occur very rarely, and administration should be discontinued if symptoms are severe. Endocrine disorders such as gynecomastia, erectile dysfunction, and decreased libido have been reported very rarely. Muscle pain or joint pain may occur rarely, and if severe, administration should be stopped immediately. Skin rash or hair loss may occur rarely. It is advisable not to use this medication for an extended period, and if no therapeutic effect is observed, a switch to another medication should be made. Elderly patients or those with chronic illnesses may have an increased risk of pneumonia, so caution is required. If dizziness or drowsiness occurs during administration, it is advised to avoid driving or operating dangerous machinery. This medication may interact with other drugs, so if other medications are being taken, medical personnel should be consulted. It is safest for pregnant or nursing women not to take this medication. The safety of this medication in children has not been established, so it's not recommended for pediatric use. In case of overdose, treatments such as vomiting or gastric lavage may be necessary; in severe cases, hemodialysis may be beneficial. This medication may reduce gastric acid secretion, promoting bacterial growth in the gastrointestinal tract, so ocular examinations may be necessary with long-term use.
Hives, angioedema, shock, bronchospasm, anaphylactic shock, vascular edema, fever, chest pain, hypotension, skin rash (severe cases), elevated serum enzyme levels (liver dysfunction), jaundice or non-jaundice hepatitis, tachycardia, bradycardia, atrioventricular block, arrhythmia, vasculitis, seizures, disturbances in consciousness, blurred vision presumed due to metabolic changes, mental confusion, seizures, hypertonic muscle spasms, rhabdomyolysis, agranulocytosis, pancytopenia, and aplastic anemia.

This medication should be stored in a tightly sealed container to avoid exposure to air or moisture. The storage temperature should be maintained between 1 degree and 30 degrees Celsius at room temperature. This will help preserve the medication's efficacy for a longer period.
