This medicine is used to improve symptoms of difficulty in expectoration in diseases such as acute and chronic bronchitis, bronchial asthma, laryngitis, sinusitis, and cystic fibrosis.

Dosage and Administration

Adult dosage

Acute disease adults: 200 mg once, three times a day. Chronic disease adults: 200 mg once, twice a day.

Children's dosage

Acute disease children (6 – 14 years old): 200 mg once, twice a day. Chronic disease children (6 – 14 years old): 100 mg once, three times a day. Cystic fibrosis children (6 years and older): 200 mg once.

Precautions

People who are allergic to this medicine or any of its ingredients should not take it. Patients with ulcers in the stomach or duodenum should also avoid this medicine. Children under 2 years old should not take this medicine. Pregnant women or women who may become pregnant should consult a doctor before taking this medicine, as there is not enough research on its safety during pregnancy. Nursing women should also consult a specialist before taking this medicine since it is uncertain whether this medicine is excreted in breast milk. If gastrointestinal symptoms such as nausea, vomiting, stomatitis, heartburn, or diarrhea occur during use, stop taking it immediately and consult a doctor. If symptoms such as hives, itching, skin rash, headache, tinnitus, shortness of breath, or worsening asthma occur, stop taking it immediately and inform a specialist. If there is a rapid heartbeat or elevated blood pressure, discontinue use immediately. Rarely, difficulty breathing has been reported; if this symptom occurs, consult a medical professional immediately. This medicine may reduce the effectiveness of certain antibiotics when taken together, so it should be taken at least 2 hours apart from antibiotics if you are on them. It is also safer not to mix this medicine with other medications in solution. This medicine should be stored out of reach of children, and it is recommended to keep it in its original packaging. Transferring it to another container may compromise its quality and increase the risk of incorrect dosing.
