This medication helps to prevent and continuously treat asthma. It is also used to relieve symptoms of seasonal and perennial allergic rhinitis.

How to take

Adult dose

This medication is taken once daily; for asthma patients, it should be taken in the evening, and for allergic rhinitis patients, the dosing time is determined based on the patient's condition. Patients with both asthma and allergic rhinitis should take 1 tablet, 1 packet, or 1 sheet once daily in the evening. Adults and adolescents aged 15 years and over should take 10 mg of montelukast orally once daily.

Precautions

This medication is used for the treatment of asthma and allergic rhinitis. During the use of this medication, there may be effects on the nervous system; if symptoms such as anxiety, depression, hallucinations, or suicidal thoughts occur, consult a physician immediately. This medication contains the artificial sweetener aspartame, and should be avoided by patients with phenylketonuria, a genetic condition. Patients with a genetic inability to break down lactose should also not take this medication. This medication is not intended for the treatment of acute asthma attacks, so a rescue bronchodilator should be used during acute symptoms. This medication should not be used alone for exercise-induced bronchospasm; a beta-agonist for inhalation should be used as needed. Patients who have hypersensitivity to aspirin or non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs should avoid these medications during the use of this drug. While taking this medication, side effects such as liver function abnormalities, skin rashes, dyspepsia, headaches, and dizziness may occur, so report any unusual symptoms to a physician. It should be taken during pregnancy only when necessary, and caution is advised while breastfeeding. Children and elderly patients can also use this medication, but safety and dosage adjustments may be needed based on age. In case of overdose, there is no specific antidote, and appropriate treatment and medical monitoring are necessary based on symptoms. This medication should be stored out of reach of children, and it is best not to transfer it to another container. When taking this medication, follow the instructions given by your doctor for consistent daily usage, and avoid sudden discontinuation or arbitrary adjustment of other asthma medications.

Hives, severe swelling, chest tightness, difficulty breathing, cold sweat, pallor, severe rash with fever, blisters, skin peeling, pain in mouth/eyes mucosa, shortness of breath or difficulty breathing, asthma attack, respiratory abnormalities accompanied by cough and fever, yellowing of skin or eyes, extreme lethargy, sudden and severe headache, lightning headache, seizure, confusion of consciousness, visual abnormalities, paralysis, significantly reduced urine output.
