Precautions

This medication is a beta-lactam antibiotic and should not be administered to patients with allergies to penicillin or cephalosporin drugs. Patients who have previously experienced severe allergic reactions or shock may be at risk when using this medication. Caution is advised in patients with infectious mononucleosis or lymphocytic leukemia as there is a risk of rash. Patients with a history of liver dysfunction should also be cautious as liver impairment may recur with this medication. For patients with decreased liver or kidney function, the drug concentration may increase, requiring adjustment of dosage and administration intervals. Individuals with allergic constitutions may experience symptoms such as rashes or urticaria more easily. Patients who cannot absorb the medication properly due to vomiting or diarrhea also need to be cautious. This medication may cause gastrointestinal side effects such as diarrhea, vomiting, and abdominal pain, and in severe cases, conditions like pseudomembranous colitis may occur. Regular testing is necessary as liver function tests may elevate or symptoms of liver abnormalities such as hepatitis and jaundice may arise. Serious skin reactions, including rashes, itching, and in severe cases Stevens-Johnson syndrome, can occur rarely, and should be discontinued immediately if symptoms arise. There have been reports of blood cell count reductions and hematologic reactions such as thrombocytopenia, so caution is necessary. Central nervous system abnormalities such as agitation, anxiety, and seizures may occur rarely, and any neurological symptoms should be reported immediately. Kidney function may deteriorate rapidly, so regular monitoring of renal status is essential. Long-term use may lead to an excessive growth of resistant bacteria, thus caution is needed for administration beyond 14 days. This medication may interact with other drugs, particularly anticoagulants or other antibiotics, so consultation with a physician is advised when taken together. It should be avoided in early pregnancy, and caution is advised during breastfeeding as there could be adverse reactions in the baby. It is not recommended for children under 12 years or weighing less than 40 kg. Elderly patients must use it more cautiously due to an increased risk of bleeding from kidney dysfunction and vitamin K deficiency. In case of overdose, symptoms may include vomiting, diarrhea, and seizures; immediate medical attention should be sought for appropriate management. This medication should be stored in a dry place below 25 degrees Celsius, and prior to use, a history of allergies and current health status must be confirmed.
