(Respiratory infections, urinary infections) treatment and improvement of soft tissue infections
This medication is used to treat infections caused by various bacteria. It is effective against respiratory infections such as acute and chronic bronchitis, pneumonia, tonsillitis, sinusitis, and otitis media. It also helps in the treatment of urinary tract infections like cystitis, urethritis, and pyelonephritis. It can also treat sexually transmitted diseases such as pelvic inflammatory disease and gonorrhea, as well as skin and soft tissue infections like boils, abscesses, and wound infections. Additionally, it is effective in treating infections related to bones and teeth, such as osteomyelitis and dental infections. It is used to treat a wide range of infectious diseases, improving the health of patients.
Adults and pediatric patients aged 12 years or older or weighing more than 40 kg should orally take amoxicillin/clavulanate potassium at a dose of 250 mg/125 mg three times a day at 8-hour intervals. In cases of severe and respiratory infections, the dose may be increased to 500 mg/125 mg. In cases of renal impairment, dose adjustment should be made according to the creatinine clearance. - Creatinine clearance 10-30 mL/min: 250-500 mg per dose
Pediatric patients may reduce the dosage in the same manner as adults.
This medication should not be administered to patients who have had hypersensitivity reactions to penicillin or cephalosporin drugs. Especially, patients with a history of anaphylaxis, severe skin reactions, or shock should not use this medication. Patients with viral infections accompanying infectious mononucleosis or lymphocytic leukemia may be at increased risk of rash, so caution is necessary. Patients with liver function issues should avoid using this medication, as it may cause a recurrence of liver dysfunction, or it should be used cautiously. Patients with poor liver function should be monitored closely for worsening liver function when using this medication. Patients with moderate or severe renal impairment may have prolonged retention of the drug in the body, leading to side effects, necessitating adjustment of the dosing interval. Patients with allergic dispositions or family histories may have a higher risk of allergic reactions and should use this medication carefully. Patients who have difficulty swallowing orally, the elderly, or those in poor overall health should be cautious due to the risk of bleeding from vitamin K deficiency. Patients with gastrointestinal diseases, including vomiting or diarrhea, may not absorb the medication well and should be administered it with caution. If symptoms such as abdominal pain, diarrhea, or bloody stools occur, medication use should be immediately discontinued, and a doctor's consultation should be obtained. Liver dysfunction symptoms may occur during or after discontinuation of treatment, so regular liver function tests are recommended with long-term use. Rarely, skin rash, itching, and severe skin reactions may occur; if any abnormal symptoms appear, the medication should be stopped immediately. Blood abnormalities such as leukopenia and thrombocytopenia may occur with long-term usage, thus regular blood tests are advisable. Central nervous system symptoms such as anxiety, dizziness, and seizures may occur rarely, and patients with these symptoms should consult a physician. Patients with kidney issues may develop severe renal abnormalities like acute renal failure or interstitial nephritis, necessitating regular monitoring. This medication can alter intestinal flora, potentially leading to conditions like oral candidiasis; appropriate treatment should be obtained if symptoms arise. Rarely, bleeding tendencies due to vitamin K deficiency and symptoms of vitamin B group deficiency may occur; caution is advised. Long-term use of this medication requires regular checks of kidney, liver, and blood functions. There may be interactions if this medication is used in conjunction with other drugs; patients should inform their doctor or pharmacist of any other medications they are taking. It is advisable not to use this medication during pregnancy, particularly in the first three months, and caution should be exercised during breastfeeding due to the possibility of diarrhea or allergic reactions in the infant. It is not recommended for children under 12 years of age or those weighing less than 40 kg. Elderly patients may have decreased bodily functions, leading to a higher likelihood of side effects, necessitating careful adjustment of dose and dosing intervals. In case of overdose, gastrointestinal symptoms such as vomiting, diarrhea, and abdominal pain may occur; in severe cases, renal failure or seizures could occur, requiring immediate medical attention. This medication should be stored in a dry place at a temperature below 25 degrees, and it is important to adhere to the prescribed duration and dosage.
