Precautions

This medication should not be used in certain patients. For instance, patients who have had an allergic reaction to this medication or its ingredients, as well as those with gastrointestinal bleeding or obstruction, perforation, etc., should not take this medication. Additionally, this medication contains lactose; thus, patients with genetic issues such as galactose intolerance, Lapp lactase deficiency, or glucose-galactose malabsorption should also avoid taking it. During the course of treatment with this medication, serious allergic reactions such as shock or anaphylaxis may occur, so careful monitoring is required. If blood pressure drops or breathing becomes difficult, discontinue use immediately and seek medical assistance. It may affect liver function; therefore, if liver enzyme levels rise or jaundice symptoms appear, discontinue use and consult a doctor. Taking this medication may lead to gastrointestinal symptoms such as nausea, diarrhea, constipation, abdominal pain, increased saliva, as well as neurological symptoms such as headache, agitation, sleep disturbances, and dizziness. Blood abnormalities such as gynecomastia, increased prolactin levels, thrombocytopenia, and leukopenia may also occur, so regular blood tests may be needed. It may also impact kidney function, so be cautious of increased BUN or creatinine levels. Rarely, hypersensitivity reactions like skin rashes, itching, or tremors may occur, and if these symptoms appear, discontinue use. This medication enhances the action of acetylcholine; thus, it should be used with this in mind, and if gastrointestinal symptoms do not improve, prolonged use is not recommended. If taken with anticholinergics, the effectiveness of this medication may decrease, so caution is needed in adjusting the dosing intervals. Pregnant women or those who may become pregnant should only take this medication if the benefits outweigh the risks, as its safety has not been established. If breastfeeding, this medication may be excreted in breast milk, so it should be avoided if possible, and if it must be taken, breastfeeding should be ceased. Safety in children has not been adequately confirmed, so it should be administered to children with caution. Elderly patients may have decreased bodily function leading to adverse reactions more easily, requiring careful observation of symptoms, and dosage adjustments or temporary cessation may be needed as necessary. This medication should be kept out of reach of children, and transferring it to another container may alter its quality, so care should be taken.
