Precautions

This medication acts to control the body's fluid balance; therefore, it should particularly be restricted for older individuals and those with certain diseases to intake fluids only when thirsty. Those with allergic reactions to this medication, specific kidney dysfunctions, heart failure, or those taking diuretics should not use it. Moreover, it is safe to administer this drug only to patients with normal blood pressure when treating nocturnal enuresis. Patients with hypertension, cardiovascular diseases, chronic kidney disease, pregnant women, children, the elderly, and those at risk for electrolyte imbalances must exercise more caution when using this drug. This medication may cause serious side effects such as hyponatremia and water intoxication, so if symptoms like headache, nausea, weight gain, or convulsions occur, contact a doctor immediately. Fluid intake must be limited for a certain period before and after administration, especially since older adults have a higher risk of hyponatremia, and sodium levels should be frequently checked through blood tests. Interactions may occur when used in combination with other medications, so patients should inform about any ongoing medications. Pregnant or nursing women should be cautious when using this drug, and discontinuing breastfeeding is recommended if nursing. In cases of overdose, symptoms such as headache, nausea, convulsions, and impaired consciousness may occur, requiring immediate medical attention.
