How to take

Adult dose

This medication should be taken once daily, with asthma patients taking it in the evening and allergy patients determining the dosing time based on their condition. Patients with both asthma and allergic rhinitis should take 1 tablet in the evening once daily. This medication should be taken 1 hour before meals or 2 hours after meals.

Child dose

Children aged 6 to 14 years: Chew 5 mg of Montelukast once daily. Children aged 2 to 5 years: Chew 4 mg of Montelukast once daily. This medication should be taken 1 hour before meals or 2 hours after meals.

Precautions

This medication is used to relieve symptoms of asthma and allergic rhinitis. Serious neuropsychiatric symptoms may appear while taking this medication, so patients and caregivers should consult a doctor immediately if symptoms such as anxiety, depression, hallucinations, or suicidal impulses occur. Patients with phenylketonuria, a genetic disorder, should avoid this medication because the artificial sweetener aspartame included in this medication is broken down into phenylalanine in the body.
