Precautions

This medication should not be used in patients with hypersensitivity to specific components or benzimidazole derivatives, or those who have experienced such reactions in the past. Caution is also necessary when used in conjunction with penicillin or macrolide antibiotics in patients with allergies. Furthermore, it is contraindicated in patients with certain heart-related medications, antiviral drugs, and in pregnant or breastfeeding women. Patients with impaired liver function, older adults, or those with a history of drug hypersensitivity should use this medication with caution. This medication can cause hypersensitivity reactions such as skin rashes and itching; if these symptoms occur, it must be discontinued immediately. Changes in blood counts such as red blood cell or white blood cell count, or liver function abnormalities may occur, requiring regular blood tests and liver function tests. Various side effects such as heart-related symptoms, gastrointestinal issues, headaches, insomnia, and cough may occur, so it's important to consult healthcare professionals if symptoms arise. Prolonged use of this medication may increase the risk of fractures due to osteoporosis, and hypomagnesemia may rarely occur, necessitating periodic checks of blood magnesium levels. It may slightly increase the risk of bacterial infections in the gastrointestinal tract due to reduced gastric acid secretion, so if diarrhea persists, a doctor should be informed. Care is needed as there is a risk of accidents due to drowsiness while driving or operating machinery. This medication can interact with other drugs, so patients taking antibiotics, antivirals, anticoagulants, etc., must inform their healthcare providers. Pregnant or breastfeeding women should not take this medication, and caution is advised for older adults due to the higher risk of side effects from liver function decline. The safety in children has not been established, and there is limited experience in using this medication in pediatric populations. Do not chew or break the tablet; it should be swallowed whole, and keep out of reach of children. There is no specific antidote for overdose, so treatment and supportive therapy according to symptoms are required. If symptoms of autoimmune diseases such as cutaneous or systemic lupus erythematosus appear during the use of this medication, it must be discontinued immediately, and a specialist should be consulted.
