Short-term relief of moderate pain (post-surgery) and fever
This medication is administered intravenously when there is pain or high fever, especially when rapid effect is needed or when other methods of administration are difficult. It is used to relieve moderate pain, particularly pain that occurs after surgery, for a short duration. It is also effective for short-term reduction of fever. Therefore, this drug is utilized for the rapid and safe treatment of pain and fever.
Adults weighing 50 kg or more Administer 1000 mg of acetaminophen four times daily Dosing interval must be at least 4 hours Maximum daily dosage is not to exceed 4 grams. For children weighing 33 kg or more and adults weighing less than 50 kg Administer 15 mg/kg of acetaminophen for a single dose Dosing interval must be at least 4 hours Maximum daily dosage is not to exceed 60 mg/kg or 4 grams. This medication must be used with precise dosing. There is a risk of serious overdose or death due to confusion between milligrams and milliliters, so caution is necessary. Once this medication can be taken orally, it is advisable to use an appropriate analgesic immediately. Check if this drug's active ingredient is included in other medications to avoid overdose. Exceeding the recommended dosage can cause severe liver damage, so strict adherence to the dosage is essential. Symptoms of liver damage typically appear between 2 and 6 days after administration, so if any unusual symptoms occur, immediate treatment should be sought. Patients with poor liver function or those who frequently consume alcohol must consult a physician before taking this drug. This medication can lead to acute liver failure or situations requiring liver transplantation. During the course of this drug, serious skin reactions such as rashes, hives, and severe allergic reactions may occur, so if these symptoms appear, immediately discontinue use and seek medical attention. Patients who are allergic to this drug or who have peptic ulcers, severe liver, kidney, or heart diseases, or are taking certain medications, as well as heavy drinkers, should not take this medication. Patients with liver or kidney problems, elderly individuals, pregnant and breastfeeding women, children, and those on certain medications should use this drug with caution and consult a doctor before use. This drug can rarely cause various adverse reactions such as blood abnormalities, hypotension, shock, neurological disorders, renal failure, and skin rashes, so any unusual symptoms should be reported to healthcare professionals immediately. When combined with other medications, interactions may occur, especially with certain antibiotics, anticoagulants, and anticonvulsants; therefore, it is essential to consult a physician or pharmacist. This drug does not affect driving or machinery operation, but should not be mixed with other medications. Children and elderly individuals should take the minimum dose and be closely monitored for their condition. The use of this drug during pregnancy is known not to significantly affect the fetus, but it should always be used under a doctor's guidance. It can also be used safely when breastfeeding. Patients with severely impaired kidney function may have delayed drug excretion, thus sufficient dosing intervals must be ensured. In the case of overdose, symptoms such as nausea, vomiting, loss of appetite, and abdominal pain may occur, and in severe cases, liver cell damage and coma may ensue, requiring immediate hospital treatment. This drug should not be stored at temperatures above 30 degrees Celsius, and refrigeration or freezing should be avoided. Before use, check for foreign substances or discoloration, and use only once, discarding any remaining solution.
