How to take

Adult dose

For adults with severe infections and respiratory infections, administer 2 tablets once, 2 times a day every 12 hours orally. In patients with renal insufficiency, the dose may be reduced according to the degree of renal function. However, in patients with severe renal insufficiency (glomerular filtration rate less than 30 mL/min), this medication cannot be administered.

Precautions

This medication, as a beta-lactam antibiotic, should not be administered to patients with a history of hypersensitivity to penicillins and cephalosporins. Special caution is required for patients with infectious mononucleosis or lymphocytic leukemia as they have a higher risk of rash when taking this medication. Patients with a history of liver dysfunction or jaundice should also avoid this medication as it may cause a recurrence of symptoms. Patients with liver disorders should use this medication cautiously as it may worsen liver function. Patients with moderate to severe kidney impairment may require adjustment of dosing intervals due to increased serum drug concentration. Caution is necessary for patients with allergic predispositions or those who easily exhibit symptoms such as bronchial asthma, rash, or urticaria. Patients who have difficulty swallowing, those receiving non-oral nutrition, elderly patients, and those in poor general condition are at risk of vitamin K deficiency and should exercise caution. Patients with gastrointestinal diseases accompanied by vomiting or diarrhea may not absorb the medication adequately, thus caution is warranted. This medication may cause gastrointestinal side effects such as diarrhea, gastritis, vomiting, and loss of appetite; in severe cases, it may lead to pseudomembranous colitis or acute pancreatitis. There is a rare possibility of elevated liver function tests and of developing hepatitis or cholestatic jaundice, necessitating periodic checks of liver status. Severe skin reactions such as skin rash, itching, and in severe cases, Stevens-Johnson syndrome may occur; medication should be discontinued at the first sign of adverse symptoms. Blood-related abnormalities such as leukopenia, thrombocytopenia, and hemolytic anemia have been reported, and blood tests may be needed. Central nervous system adverse effects may occur infrequently, including agitation, anxiety, confusion, drowsiness, and seizures, and in severe cases, aseptic meningitis symptoms may develop. Renal function abnormalities can lead to acute renal failure or interstitial nephritis, thus renal function should be monitored regularly. Antimicrobial use may lead to superinfections such as stomatitis or candidiasis, requiring appropriate treatment when symptoms arise. There may be a tendency for bleeding due to vitamin K deficiency; thus, caution is required if bleeding symptoms are present. To prevent the occurrence of drug-resistant bacteria, it is advisable to conduct susceptibility testing and use this medication for the minimum duration possible. Serious allergic reactions can occur; patients with previous penicillin allergies must inform healthcare professionals. Anaphylactic shock may occur, so the patient’s condition should be closely monitored following administration, and emergency interventions should be readily available. Regular assessment of liver, kidney, and hematological functions is needed during prolonged administration. Use should be avoided during the first three months of pregnancy, and pregnant or nursing women should consult their doctor before using this medication. It is recommended to use this medication only in children over 12 years of age or those weighing more than 40 kg, as limited experience exists in younger patients. In elderly patients, due to decreased physiological functions, adverse reactions may appear easily, necessitating dose adjustments and monitoring. This medication may interact with other drugs, so patients taking other medications should inform their healthcare provider. Overdose may result in gastrointestinal symptoms and neurological disturbances; immediate cessation of medication and appropriate treatment is required. This medication should be stored in a dry place below 25 degrees Celsius, and if any adverse reactions occur during use, immediate consultation with a physician is necessary.
