Summary

Main use
Treatment of insomnia
Who takes it
Adults
Adult dose
Use the lowest effective dose of this medicine. The recommended daily dose for adults is 1mg. If clinically necessary, the dose may be increased to 2-3mg. Because this medicine may impair driving or other activities that require full alertness the day after it is taken, take it once immediately before bedtime, allowing at least 7-8 hours between taking the medicine and waking up. Do not exceed the recommended dose of 3mg; take it once immediately before bedtime. For elderly or debilitated patients, do not exceed 2mg per day. For patients with severe hepatic impairment or those taking potent CYP3A4 inhibitors, do not exceed 2mg per day (see Interactions). Dose adjustment may be necessary in patients taking central nervous system depressants because of the possibility of additive effects. Taking this medicine with a high-fat/high-calorie meal or immediately after a meal is expected to delay its absorption and reduce its effect on sleep latency.

How to take

Precautions

This medication acts on the central nervous system to produce sedation and sleep effects. Drowsiness and diminished psychomotor function may occur after taking the medication, so caution is needed when engaging in hazardous activities such as driving or operating machinery the next day. Taking this medication with other central nervous system depressants or alcohol may enhance its effects, necessitating dose adjustments when used together. It is especially safe to take only at bedtime; taking it while awake may result in memory impairment, hallucinations, dizziness, and other side effects. During treatment, abnormal behavior changes or complex sleep behaviors (e.g., driving or eating during sleep) may occur, and if such symptoms arise, the medication should be stopped immediately, and a healthcare professional should be consulted. Elderly patients or those with frailty may be more sensitive to this drug, so dosage should be reduced and monitored closely. Patients with liver or kidney dysfunction and those with respiratory diseases should also exercise caution. This medication should not be administered to children under 18 years of age, and patients with hypersensitivity to this drug or its components should not use it. Pregnant or breastfeeding women should consult a doctor before taking this medication. In case of overdose, severe consciousness impairment or respiratory depression can occur, and immediate emergency treatment is required if symptoms appear. Store this medication in its original container in a secure place out of reach of children. Transferring it to another container may pose risks of misuse or decreased quality.
