Precautions

This medication consists of two active ingredients, Linagliptin and Metformin Hydrochloride, and is primarily used for blood sugar control in patients with Type 2 diabetes. Before taking this medication, it should not be administered to patients with certain medical conditions, such as those allergic to its ingredients, those with Type 1 diabetes, lactic acidosis, diabetic ketoacidosis, severe renal dysfunction, acute cardiac diseases, liver dysfunction, acute alcoholism, pregnant women, or breastfeeding mothers. This medication impacts kidney function; therefore, regular kidney function tests should be conducted before and during treatment, especially for patients with reduced kidney function. Additionally, this medication poses a risk of hypoglycemia; thus, blood sugar levels must be carefully monitored when used with insulin or sulfonylureas, and dosage adjustments may be necessary. Rare side effects, such as acute pancreatitis or bullous pemphigoid, may occur during treatment with this medication, so if abdominal pain or skin abnormalities arise, consult a physician immediately. The Metformin component may lower vitamin B12 levels, necessitating regular monitoring of vitamin B12 status during long-term use. This medication may interact with certain drugs, so inform your physician or pharmacist if you are taking other medications, especially those that may affect kidney function. Pregnant women or those planning to become pregnant should avoid taking this medication, and it is also recommended not to use while breastfeeding. Elderly patients may be at higher risk of reduced kidney function, warranting careful dosage adjustments and regular kidney function checks. This medication is not recommended for children and adolescents as its safety and efficacy have not been established in this population. In the case of overdose, serious side effects such as gastrointestinal disturbances or lactic acidosis may occur, so adhere strictly to the prescribed dosage, and in case of unusual symptoms, seek medical attention immediately. Store this medication in a closed container, protect it from moisture, and keep it out of reach of children. It is advisable not to transfer it to another container.
