This medication is used to treat the constipation symptoms of adult patients with chronic constipation when the use of laxatives has been ineffective in relieving symptoms. It can provide effective relief for those suffering from chronic constipation and helps to facilitate bowel movements.

How to take

Adult dose

This medication is administered orally and can be taken at any time of the day, with or without meals. The recommended adult dosage is 2 mg once daily. For elderly patients aged 65 and over, the initial dose is 1 mg once daily, which may be increased to 2 mg once daily if necessary. For patients with severe renal impairment and severe hepatic impairment, the dosage is 1 mg once daily.

Precautions

This medication should not be used in certain patients. Those with allergies to the active ingredients or excipients should avoid taking it. It should not be used by patients with severely impaired kidney function requiring dialysis. Patients with structural or functional problems in the intestine, such as perforation, obstruction, Crohn's disease, or severe inflammatory diseases like ulcerative colitis should also refrain from taking it. This medication contains lactose and should not be taken by patients with genetic disorders that prevent lactose digestion. Patients with severe renal impairment should use this medication cautiously with a reduced dosage. During treatment, gastrointestinal symptoms such as headaches, abdominal pain, nausea, and diarrhea may frequently occur, though most are mild and improve over time. Fatigue or dizziness may also be experienced, and if symptoms are severe, consult a physician. If new heart palpitations occur, notify healthcare providers immediately. The use of this medication is not recommended during pregnancy, and women of childbearing age should use effective contraception while taking it. Nursing mothers are advised to avoid this medication. The use of this medication is not recommended for children or adolescents under 18 years of age. In case of overdose, symptoms such as headache, nausea, and diarrhea may occur, requiring appropriate treatment based on the symptoms.
