If symptoms of progressive skin rash, such as blistering of the skin or damage to mucous membranes occur, use should be discontinued immediately. This medication should not be used in patients allergic to macrolide antibiotics or those taking certain medications (such as terfenadine, astemizole, cisapride, or pimostane). Caution is also required in patients taking ergot alkaloids or mizolastine due to potential vascular issues. Careful use is required in patients with poor liver function or elderly patients, and caution should also be taken when used in combination with other similar antibiotics to avoid drug resistance or side effects. Serious allergic reactions such as anaphylactic shock can rarely occur, so any abnormal symptoms during administration should prompt immediate discontinuation and consultation with healthcare professionals. Symptoms such as fever, rash, blood abnormalities, liver function abnormalities, digestive symptoms (nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, etc.), pneumonia, neurological symptoms (dizziness, headache, etc.), alterations in taste and smell, and skin rashes have been reported. If severe diarrhea or abdominal pain occurs, this may indicate pseudomembranous colitis, requiring immediate discontinuation. Long-term use of this medication may lead to the emergence of resistant bacteria and the possibility of secondary infections; therefore, the treatment duration should be kept to a minimum. Patients with impaired liver function may need regular liver function tests and dosage adjustments. Patients with poor kidney function typically do not require dosage adjustments. This medication may interact with various other drugs, so if you are taking other medications, you must inform your healthcare provider. Caution is especially needed when used in combination with medications related to the heart, antihistamines, anticoagulants, immunosuppressants, sedatives, or cardiac medications. Pregnant women or women who may become pregnant should consider the risks and benefits of this medication carefully, and breastfeeding mothers should avoid use or discontinue breastfeeding if possible. In elderly patients, the half-life of the drug may be prolonged, but dosage adjustments are generally not required. This medication can cause symptoms such as dizziness or blurred vision and requires caution when operating machinery or driving.
