Precautions

This medication should not be used in patients who have had severe allergic reactions or shock from this drug in the past. Patients with allergies to cephalosporin antibiotics or those with lactose intolerance, genetic lactose enzyme deficiency, or glucose-galactose malabsorption should not take this medication. Patients with a history of hypersensitivity should not be given this drug in principle, but if absolutely necessary, it should be used with extreme caution. Patients with allergies to penicillin or those with a family history or allergic tendencies should also be cautious. Patients with very poor kidney function may retain the drug in their body longer; thus, they should reduce the dose and increase the dosing intervals. Patients who cannot take orally, those receiving parenteral nutrition, elderly patients, and those in poor overall condition may show symptoms of vitamin K deficiency and should be carefully monitored. This medication contains Yellow No. 5 dye, so patients allergic to this component should also use it cautiously. During use, rare severe allergic reactions such as shock or anaphylaxis may occur; if symptoms appear, discontinue the medication immediately and seek appropriate treatment. If there are any symptoms of skin rash, itching, fever, or swelling, discontinue use and consult a doctor. Gastrointestinal side effects such as severe diarrhea, abdominal pain, vomiting, or heartburn may occur; if symptoms worsen, stop taking the medication immediately. Respiratory symptoms such as fever, cough, or difficulty breathing may occur rarely; if these symptoms arise, discontinue the medication and seek treatment. Blood tests might show decreased white blood cell counts, anemia, or thrombocytopenia; report any abnormal symptoms immediately. Seizures may occur rarely in the central nervous system, so caution is warranted. Severe skin reactions such as toxic epidermal necrolysis or Stevens-Johnson syndrome may occur, so monitor skin conditions closely. Liver dysfunction or kidney impairment may develop, so regular check-ups are necessary. Oral inflammation or candidiasis may occur, so maintain careful observation of oral health. Bleeding tendencies due to vitamin K deficiency or symptoms of vitamin B complex deficiency may arise, requiring careful observation of symptoms. Headaches, dizziness, anxiety, or genital itching may occur rarely; inform the doctor if you notice any unusual symptoms. To prevent antibiotic resistance, take this medication only for the appropriate duration, and verify allergy history and symptoms thoroughly before use. There may be differences in effectiveness between capsule and suspension forms, so caution is needed when switching between them. Patients with diminished kidney function require dose adjustment, and if seizures occur, discontinue and use anticonvulsants if necessary. When taken with anticoagulants like warfarin, there may be an increased risk of bleeding, so caution is required. When used with other drugs that may increase nephrotoxicity, kidney function should be closely monitored. Women who are pregnant or may become pregnant should use this medication cautiously because its safety has not been established and should avoid breastfeeding while taking it. Safety for neonates, premature infants, and infants under 6 months has not been confirmed, so it is advisable not to use this medication in those groups. Elderly patients may be at greater risk for side effects due to diminished body function, so adjust dosage and dosing intervals and monitor their condition closely. This medication may affect some clinical test results, so inform the healthcare provider of its usage during testing. Do not leave the powder form mixed with milk or juice for long periods, and do not store the suspension for more than 2 weeks after preparation.
