This medication is used to relieve various symptoms of a cold including runny nose, nasal congestion, sneezing, sore throat, cough, phlegm, chills, fever, headache, joint pain, and muscle pain.

How to take

Adult dose

Ages 15 years and older: 2 capsules after meals three times a day, 30 minutes after meals

Child dose

Ages 8 to under 15 years: 1 capsule after meals three times a day, 30 minutes after meals

Precautions

This medication may place a burden on the liver, so individuals who consume more than three alcoholic beverages daily should consult with a doctor or pharmacist before use. Due to ingredients included in this medication, rare severe skin reactions may occur; if any abnormal skin symptoms such as rashes or itching develop, discontinue use immediately and consult a professional. This medication contains acetaminophen; therefore, it should not exceed a maximum daily dosage of 4,000 mg, and it should not be taken with other medications containing acetaminophen. People who are allergic to the ingredients, have asthma, infants less than 3 months old, or those taking certain antidepressants or psychiatric medications should not take this medication. It is safer to avoid taking this medication along with other cough medicines, cold medicines, antipyretics, sedatives, and antihistamines. Children suspected of having chickenpox or influenza, individuals with allergies, and those with chronic diseases such as liver, kidney, or heart conditions should consult a professional before use. If symptoms like rash, vomiting, urinary issues, dizziness, anxiety, tremors, or insomnia occur during use, discontinue use immediately and consult a healthcare professional; emergency treatment is required for severe allergic reactions or difficulty breathing. Children under 2 years old should not use this medication except in special cases, and careful supervision by a guardian is necessary if children are taking it. Be sure to follow the prescribed dosages and frequency strictly, avoid long-term use, and refrain from alcohol while taking this medication. It may cause drowsiness, so refrain from driving or operating machinery, and be cautious, as it may affect liver function when taken with certain medications. Rarely, serious metabolic disturbances may occur if this medication is taken with certain antibiotics; if such symptoms are suspected, discontinue use immediately. When storing, keep out of reach of children, avoid direct sunlight, and store in a cool, dry place in a tightly sealed container. Do not transfer the medication to another container and take care to avoid misuse.

Mild side effects

Rash, redness (erythema), itching, nausea, vomiting, loss of appetite, constipation, swelling, difficulty urinating, dryness, dizziness, anxiety, tremors, insomnia, high anion gap metabolic acidosis (HAGMA)

Drug interactions

Do not take this medication with other products that contain acetaminophen, MAO inhibitors (antidepressants, antipsychotics, mood stabilizers, anti-Parkinson agents, etc.), cough suppressants and expectorants, other cold medications, antipyretics, sedatives, or antihistamines (oral medications for rhinitis, motion sickness, allergy medications). Additionally, avoid taking it with diabetes medications, gout medications, arthritis medications, anticoagulants, steroids, barbiturates, and tricyclic antidepressants.
