Precautions

This medication is a beta-lactam antibiotic and should not be administered to individuals allergic to penicillin or cephalosporins. Patients with a history of severe hypersensitivity reactions, such as anaphylaxis or Stevens-Johnson syndrome, should avoid this medication. Additionally, caution is needed for patients with infectious mononucleosis or lymphocytic leukemia, as the risk of rash may increase. Patients with liver function issues should also refrain from using this medication, and it should be administered cautiously in cases of liver impairment. For patients with moderate or more severe renal impairment, dosing intervals should be adjusted due to the potential for increased drug concentration. Patients with allergies, asthma, difficulties with oral intake, the elderly, or those in poor general health should be monitored carefully. Gastrointestinal side effects such as diarrhea, vomiting, and abdominal pain may occur, and in severe cases, pseudomembranous colitis may arise, necessitating immediate cessation if severe symptoms appear. Symptoms of liver dysfunction may develop, so regular liver function tests are advisable. Rarely, serious allergic reactions such as skin rash, urticaria, or anaphylactic shock can occur, requiring immediate consultation with a physician. Blood tests may also show abnormalities, including leukopenia and thrombocytopenia. Rare reports of CNS effects include anxiety, confusion, and seizures, and renal function may deteriorate, warranting regular testing. This medication can affect gut flora, possibly resulting in stomatitis or candidiasis, and bleeding tendencies due to vitamin K deficiency may develop. Use should be avoided during the first three months of pregnancy, and pregnant or nursing women should consult a physician before use. It is not recommended for children under 12 years of age or those weighing less than 40 kg due to limited experience. In the elderly, adverse effects may easily manifest due to decreased physiological functions, thus doses and intervals should be adjusted and closely monitored. This medication may interact with other drugs, so any concurrent medications should be disclosed, with particular caution needed for anticoagulants, probenecid, and allopurinol. Overdose may result in gastrointestinal symptoms, rashes, and seizures, requiring immediate medical attention. Store below 25 degrees in a dry place to prevent degradation.
