Treatment of kidney disease in patients with hypertension and type 2 diabetes
This medication lowers blood pressure in hypertensive patients, reducing the burden on the heart and blood vessels. It is particularly helpful in the prevention and treatment of kidney disease in patients with both hypertension and type 2 diabetes. This helps to prevent deterioration of kidney function and supports overall blood pressure management. Therefore, it is used effectively in the management of kidney disease in patients with hypertension and diabetes.
For the treatment of hypertension, administer 50 mg of Losartan Potassium orally once daily for adults; if the therapeutic effect is insufficient, it may be given in divided doses twice daily or increased up to 100 mg once daily if necessary. For treating kidney disease in patients with hypertension and type 2 diabetes, typically administer 50 mg once daily, which can be increased to 100 mg once daily depending on blood pressure.
For children and adolescents aged 6 years and older weighing between 20 kg and less than 50 kg, administer 25 mg once daily, and may increase up to 50 mg once daily. For those weighing 50 kg or more, administer 50 mg once daily.

Therefore, if pregnancy is confirmed, it should be discontinued immediately. Taking this medication during pregnancy may lead to decreased fetal kidney function, lung development problems, and skeletal deformities, and there is also a risk of hypotension and renal failure in the newborn. Patients with allergies to this medication, those who are pregnant, have severely impaired liver function, or have certain hereditary diseases should not take it. Elderly patients, those with weakened kidney function, or patients whose blood pressure is excessively low should take this medication with caution and regularly monitor blood pressure and kidney function. This medication may interact with other antihypertensives, certain diuretics, and potassium supplements, so consultation with a doctor is essential. Particularly, combining it with drugs that can increase potassium levels may increase the risk of hyperkalemia, so caution is advised. It is important to regularly check blood pressure, kidney function, and electrolyte levels while on this medication to ensure there are no abnormalities. Women who are pregnant or planning to become pregnant should consult healthcare providers, and this medication should not be taken during pregnancy. Nursing mothers should also avoid taking this medication, and if necessary, breastfeeding should be discontinued.
