This medication is used for various infectious diseases caused by different bacteria. It is primarily effective against several pathogens, including Staphylococcus aureus, Streptococcus pneumoniae, and Haemophilus influenzae. Indications include complex skin and soft tissue infections, community-acquired pneumonia, acute bacterial exacerbations of chronic bronchitis, and acute sinusitis. It is also used for complicated urinary tract infections and uncomplicated urinary tract infections, including chronic bacterial prostatitis and acute pyelonephritis. However, the use of fluoroquinolone-class drugs may be associated with serious adverse reactions; therefore, they should be restricted to specific infections, such as acute bacterial sinusitis, only when other treatment options are not available. This medication is effectively used for the treatment of infectious diseases.
