How to take

Adult dose

Adults and adolescents aged 15 years and older should take 10 mg of montelukast orally once daily, placing it on the tongue to dissolve without water. This medication is taken once daily, and for asthma patients, it should be taken in the evening. For allergic rhinitis patients, the dosing time should be determined according to the patient's condition.

Child dose

Precautions

This medicine is used to alleviate symptoms of asthma and allergic rhinitis. Care should be taken while taking this medication, as there may be neuropsychiatric effects, so if new anxiety, depression, aggressive behavior, hallucinations, or suicidal thoughts occur, consult a doctor immediately. This medication contains an artificial sweetener called aspartame, so patients with phenylketonuria should avoid taking it. Patients with genetic issues in digesting lactose should not take this medication. This medication is not an emergency medicine to treat acute asthma attacks; therefore, separate emergency medication should be prepared and used in case of acute symptoms. In case of overdose, there is no specific antidote, so it is necessary to visit a medical institution immediately for appropriate treatment.
