Effectiveness in treating respiratory infections and urinary tract infections
This medication is used to treat various infections caused by bacteria such as Escherichia coli, Shigella, Salmonella, etc. The main indications include respiratory infections excluding acute bronchitis, community-acquired pneumonia, infections of the ear, nose, and throat (such as pharyngitis and tonsillitis), bacterial prostatitis, urinary tract infections, gonococcal cervicitis and urethritis, gastrointestinal infections, biliary tract infections, skin and soft tissue infections, bone and joint infections, gynecological infections, and peritonitis, among others. However, due to the characteristics of fluoroquinolones, it should only be used when there are no alternative treatments for conditions such as acute bacterial sinusitis, chronic bronchitis, and acute otitis media. This medication acts effectively against various bacterial infections, helping to alleviate symptoms and support treatment.
Typically, for adults, Ciprofloxacin is administered orally at a dose of 250 - 500 mg twice daily between meals. In cases of severe complicated infections, the dose may be increased to 750 mg twice daily. In the case of acute infections, treatment is usually given for 5 - 10 days, and even after symptoms have resolved, treatment should continue for at least 3 more days. In patients with renal impairment, the dose should be adjusted according to creatinine clearance. - Creatinine clearance > 50 mL/min

Patients with myasthenia gravis may experience exacerbation of symptoms when using this drug, thus it should not be administered. This medication is intended for the treatment of certain bacterial infections and should be used only when there are no alternative treatment options. In elderly patients, those with impaired renal function, transplant recipients, and those using corticosteroids, the risk of tendon rupture is increased, so co-administration should be avoided. Individuals with a history of allergy to this medication or similar drugs, pregnant or lactating women, adolescents under 18 years, and patients with epilepsy should not use this medication. There may be an increased risk of side effects when co-administered with certain drugs, so patients should discuss any current medications with healthcare professionals.
