Treatment of moderate to severe Alzheimer's disease
This medication is used for the treatment of moderate to severe Alzheimer's disease.
This medication is taken orally once a day, and should be administered at the same time each day. If necessary, it may be taken twice daily. Adult dosage increase: The maximum daily dose is 20mg. To minimize the risk of adverse reactions, the dosage should be increased by 5mg weekly over the initial 3 weeks. First week (Days 1-7): 5mg daily Second week (Days 8-14): 10mg daily Third week (Days 15-21): 15mg daily
This medication should not be used in patients with an allergy to any ingredient in this product. It is also safe to refrain from administering this drug to patients with very poor liver function or severely impaired kidney function. Patients with epilepsy or a history of convulsions, as well as those prone to seizures, should use this drug with caution. Concurrent use with other medications that have similar effects may increase central nervous system side effects; therefore, they should not be combined. Patients with conditions that may alter urine acidity (pH) or dietary changes should carefully monitor their urine status while taking this medication. The safety of this drug has not been established in patients with heart disease or uncontrolled hypertension, thus it should be used cautiously. Side effects such as dizziness, headache, constipation, drowsiness, and hypertension may occur while taking this medication; if symptoms are severe, consult a physician. There may be interactions with other drugs, so it is particularly advised to consult a professional if taking antipsychotic medications, muscle relaxants, or anticoagulants. Women who are pregnant or may become pregnant should make careful decisions regarding the potential risks to the fetus when using this medication. If breastfeeding, it is recommended to discontinue nursing, as this drug may be transmitted through breast milk. The safety and effectiveness of this medication have not been established in children and adolescents under 18 years of age, so it is advisable not to use it in this population. In the event of overdose, symptoms such as confusion, drowsiness, dizziness, and vomiting may occur, necessitating immediate medical attention. This medication may affect a patient’s reaction time, so caution is needed when driving or operating machinery. Store in a safe place out of reach of children and do not transfer the medication to another container.
