Precautions

This medication should not be used in certain patients. Patients who have experienced severe allergic reactions or shock with this medication in the past, patients allergic to cephalosporin antibiotics, and patients with genetic diseases that cannot break down lactose should not take this medication. Additionally, patients with a history of hypersensitivity reactions to this drug or similar class antibiotics should avoid administration if possible; if necessary, they should be closely monitored. Patients allergic to penicillin antibiotics, those with a family history of allergies, or those who are allergic should also be cautious. Patients with severely impaired kidney function may have the medication remain in the body longer, increasing the risk of side effects, so dose adjustments and intervals between doses may be necessary. Patients who cannot take it orally or elderly patients with poor nutritional status should be monitored closely for vitamin K deficiency symptoms. This medication contains a pigment called Yellow No. 5, so patients allergic to this component should also be cautious. This drug can rarely cause serious allergic reactions such as shock or anaphylaxis, so if symptoms such as discomfort, difficulty breathing, rash, or swelling occur while taking it, use should be stopped immediately and medical personnel informed. Gastrointestinal symptoms such as diarrhea, abdominal pain, vomiting may rarely occur and, in severe cases, pseudomembranous colitis may develop, necessitating stopping the drug and seeking treatment if severe. Respiratory adverse effects, such as interstitial pneumonia, may also occur rarely, so caution should be exercised if cough or difficulty breathing develops. Blood-related side effects, including granulocytopenia, thrombocytopenia, and hemolytic anemia, have been reported, and if abnormal symptoms appear, the drug should be discontinued. Seizures may occur rarely in the central nervous system, requiring caution. Severe skin reactions may also occur, so if symptoms such as rash or blisters appear, consult medical personnel immediately. Abnormal liver function or impaired kidney function may occur rarely, requiring regular examinations. Vitamin deficiency symptoms may also arise rarely, so symptoms such as bleeding tendencies or stomatitis should be monitored. This medication should be used only for an appropriate duration based on sensitivity testing to prevent the development of resistant bacteria. It is important to confirm allergy history thoroughly before consumption. There may be efficacy differences between capsule and suspension forms, so caution is needed when substituting one for the other. Particularly, patients with impaired kidney function must be cautious as not adjusting the dosage can increase the risk of seizures. There may also be interactions with other drugs, so when taken with anticoagulants such as warfarin, the risk of bleeding may increase, requiring caution. Also, when used in conjunction with certain anticonvulsants or diuretics, kidney toxicity may increase, necessitating careful administration. Safety has not been established during pregnancy, so it should only be used when necessary, and breastfeeding should be avoided during treatment. It is not recommended for newborns or infants under 6 months of age due to lack of confirmed safety. Elderly patients have a higher risk of side effects due to decreased physiological functions, so dosage and administration intervals should be adjusted, and their condition should be monitored closely. This medication may affect the results of some clinical tests, so this should be considered during testing. Suspension forms of the medication should not be left mixed in milk or juice for extended periods, and should not be stored for more than 2 weeks after preparation.
