This medication is used to improve seasonal and perennial allergic rhinitis, allergic conjunctivitis, chronic idiopathic urticaria, and itching such as skin pruritus.

How to take

Adult dose

Adults and children over 6 years should take 10 mg of cetirizine hydrochloride orally once a day before bedtime. Patients sensitive to adverse reactions may take 5 mg in the morning and evening, and the dosage may be adjusted according to age and symptoms. Patients with kidney impairment should have their dosage and administration interval adjusted based on creatinine clearance.

Precautions

This medication should not be taken by individuals allergic to certain ingredients or those who have previously experienced allergic reactions to similar medications. Patients with severely impaired kidney function or those who are pregnant, breastfeeding, or under 6 years of age should not use this medication. During the use of this medication, certain drugs should not be taken together, such as theophylline and ritonavir. Since this medication can be secreted in small amounts in breast milk, it is advisable to stop breastfeeding while taking it. It is also safe not to take it with alcoholic beverages such as alcohol. Patients with impaired kidney or liver function, elderly patients, patients with epilepsy, and those at risk of seizures should consult a physician or pharmacist before taking this medication.
