This medication contains the artificial sweetener aspartame, and patients with phenylketonuria, a genetic disorder that makes it difficult to metabolize phenylalanine, should avoid it. The maximum daily allowable amount of aspartame is limited to no more than 40 mg per kg of body weight; therefore, adults should not exceed 2.4 g per day. Patients with hypersensitivity to this drug or genetic problems such as lactose intolerance, lactase deficiency, and glucose-galactose malabsorption should not take it. While the safety has been assessed through clinical trials in various age groups including asthma and allergic rhinitis patients, various adverse reactions such as fatigue, headache, abdominal pain, cough, and rash may be reported, so caution is advised. In particular, while taking this drug, rare occurrences of eosinophilia or vasculitis symptoms can happen; if symptoms such as eosinophilia, skin rash, or worsening pulmonary symptoms arise, one should consult a doctor immediately. This drug is not used for acute asthma attacks; therefore, a separate emergency medication should always be kept on hand. If taking inhaled corticosteroids, doses should be adjusted gradually according to a physician's directions, and sudden changes should be avoided. Patients with hypersensitivity to aspirin should avoid using aspirin or non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs while taking this medication, as this medication does not treat bronchoconstriction caused by aspirin-sensitive asthma. While there are no specific drug interaction reports when used with other asthma medications, clinical monitoring is necessary when used with certain liver metabolism inducers. Pregnant or breastfeeding women must consult a physician before taking this medication; although no teratogenicity has been observed in animal studies, safety in humans has not been sufficiently confirmed. It is safe to use in children and the elderly; however, caution is necessary for children under 6 months of age, as safety and efficacy have not been established. In case of overdose, as there is no specific antidote, general symptomatic treatment should be provided based on symptoms. This drug is sensitive to light, so it should be opened and taken immediately before use, and should be stored out of reach of children. If asthma symptoms worsen or neuropsychiatric symptoms appear during use, one should consult healthcare professionals immediately, and other asthma treatments should not be arbitrarily stopped or dosages reduced without a doctor's instructions.
