This medication helps prevent asthma and manage it continuously. It is also used to relieve symptoms of allergic rhinitis that occur seasonally or throughout the year.

How to take

Adult dose

This medication is to be taken once daily, in the evening for asthma patients. For allergic rhinitis patients, the dosing time is determined based on the patient's condition. Patients with both asthma and allergic rhinitis should take 1 tablet, 1 packet, or 1 film-coated tablet once daily in the evening. Adults and adolescents aged 15 and over should take 10 mg of montelukast orally once daily.

Precautions

This medication should not be taken by those who are allergic to this medication or its ingredients. This medication contains lactose, so those with genetic problems such as galactose intolerance, lactase deficiency, or glucose-galactose malabsorption should not take it. This medication is not for treating acute asthma attacks; therefore, appropriate emergency medication should be used immediately when acute symptoms occur. It is permissible to continue taking this medication while asthma worsens, but you should not suddenly reduce or stop other asthma medications without a doctor’s guidance. During treatment, do not take aspirin or non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs, and particular caution should be taken by those who are sensitive to aspirin. If any neuropsychiatric symptoms occur during treatment, such as agitation, depression, insomnia, or hallucinations, consult a doctor immediately. Children and the elderly can also use this medication, but the dosage and safety need to be confirmed by age for children, and caution is necessary for the elderly as they may respond differently to the medication. This medication should only be taken during pregnancy if necessary and under a doctor's judgment, and caution should be exercised during breastfeeding as well. In case of overdose, there is no specific antidote, so you must visit a medical institution immediately for appropriate treatment. This medication should be stored out of the reach of children, and be cautious as transferring it to another container may change its quality. If bronchospasm occurs due to exercise, do not use this medication alone; if necessary, use a bronchodilator inhaler as per a doctor’s direction. If symptoms worsen during treatment or if you need to frequently use a rescue inhaler, you must consult a physician.
