Precautions

This medication should not be used by individuals allergic to this drug or any of its components. Patients with liver cirrhosis or certain metabolic disorders such as cystathionine synthetase deficiency should not use this medication as it may affect methionine metabolism. Patients with peptic ulcers should also avoid taking this medication. Patients with severe renal impairment, particularly those with a creatinine clearance less than 25 mL/min, should not use this medication. Patients with severe liver dysfunction should also avoid taking this medication. For patients with mild to moderate liver dysfunction, care should be taken when administering this medication, ensuring the daily dosage does not exceed 300 mg. Overdosing this medication may result in symptoms such as excessive sweating, dizziness, or facial flushing. Neurological and respiratory side effects such as headaches, cold symptoms, and difficulty in breathing may occur. Gastrointestinal symptoms such as taste disturbance, nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, abdominal pain, and heartburn may also be reported. Skin symptoms such as hives, reddening of the skin, and eczema may occur. In post-marketing surveys, various adverse reactions such as fatigue, dyspepsia, palpitations, edema, itching, weakness, drowsiness, and rash have been reported, but a direct relation with this medication is unclear. Care should be taken when using this medication alongside expectorants, as such combination may lead to increased bronchial congestion, complicating the expulsion of phlegm, which may raise the risk of bronchial infections or cause bronchospasm. Animal studies have not shown any specific harmful effects during pregnancy or fetal development; however, it is advisable not to administer this medication to pregnant or potentially pregnant women, as well as nursing women, since its safety has not been sufficiently established. This medication should be stored out of the reach of children and care should be taken when transferring to other containers, as it may cause accidents or degrade the quality of the medication.
