Patients with decreased liver function should use this drug cautiously as it may further worsen liver function. Particular care should be taken when administering this medication to infants and children, and it should only be used in the minimum necessary amounts. If photosensitivity reactions, skin rashes, fever, blisters, or hives occur, stop taking this medication and consult a doctor. Skin-related side effects may include hair loss, erythema multiforme, and in severe cases, Stevens-Johnson syndrome or toxic epidermal necrolysis; any unusual symptoms should be reported immediately. Safety has not been established for infants and children, so it should be administered cautiously only when absolutely necessary. Elderly individuals may experience elevated blood concentrations of this medication due to reduced kidney function, so dosage and intervals should be adjusted, and adequate hydration is necessary.
