This medication is used for the treatment of chronic constipation symptoms in adult patients who have not experienced relief despite using laxatives.

How to take

Adult dose

This medication is taken orally and can be administered at any time of the day regardless of meals. Adults should take 2mg once daily. For elderly patients aged 65 and over, the initial dose is 1mg once daily, which may be increased to 2mg once daily if necessary. Patients with severe renal impairment and patients with severe hepatic impairment should take 1mg once daily. For patients with mild to moderate renal and hepatic impairment, dose adjustment is not necessary.

Precautions

This medication should not be used in certain patients. For example, those who are allergic to the active ingredient or additives in this medication should not take it. Patients with severely impaired kidney function requiring dialysis should also not use this medication. Additionally, patients with perforations or obstructions in the intestines, or severe intestinal inflammation such as Crohn's disease or ulcerative colitis may be at risk if they take this medication. This medication contains lactose and should not be used by individuals with lactose intolerance or related hereditary conditions. Patients with severe renal disease should use this medication cautiously and at reduced doses. Patients with serious comorbid conditions such as liver disease, heart disease, lung disease, neurological or psychiatric disorders, cancer, or AIDS should exercise special caution when using this medication. Patients with a history of arrhythmias or ischemic heart disease should also be careful. For patients with severely impaired liver function, it is advisable to reduce the dose. Caution is also required when taken with other medications that may affect heart rhythm. Common side effects when taking this medication include headache, abdominal pain, nausea, diarrhea, etc., which mostly occur at the start of treatment and subside over time. Occasionally, dizziness, tremors, palpitations, and fatigue may appear. If new heart palpitations occur, it is essential to consult a doctor. Due to limited experience with this medication during pregnancy, its use is not recommended, and women of childbearing age should use effective contraception during treatment. Breastfeeding women should also avoid taking this medication. This medication is not recommended for children or adolescents under 18 years of age. In cases of overdose, symptoms like headache, nausea, and diarrhea may occur, and appropriate treatment is needed based on the symptoms. This medication may cause dizziness or fatigue at the start of treatment, so caution is needed when driving or operating machinery.
