Improvement of symptoms of allergic rhinitis (seasonal, perennial) and nasal polyps, relief of acute rhinosinusitis.
This medication is used to relieve the symptoms of seasonal allergic rhinitis and perennial rhinitis in adults and children aged 2 and older. It is also effective in treating nasal polyps in adults over the age of 18. Additionally, it helps treat acute rhinosinusitis in adults and adolescents aged 12 and older without severe bacterial infections. This medication can be taken preventively 2 to 4 weeks before allergen exposure, such as at the start of the pollen season. Overall, it is used to improve symptoms of rhinitis and sinus diseases.
1. Allergic Rhinitis (Rhinitis) Adults (including older patients) and adolescents aged 12 and older: Generally administer 2 sprays into each nostril once a day (total daily dosage 0.2 mg). If symptoms are alleviated, the maintenance dosage can be reduced to 1 spray in each nostril (total daily dosage 0.1 mg). If symptoms are not alleviated, the dosage can be increased to 4 sprays in each nostril once a day (total daily dosage 0.4 mg). 2. Nasal Polyps Generally administer 2 sprays into each nostril once a day (total daily dosage 0.2 mg). If symptoms do not improve after 5 to 6 weeks, the dosage may be increased to 2 sprays into each nostril twice a day (total daily dosage 0.4 mg), with a recommendation to reduce the dosage if symptoms improve. If symptoms do not improve after 5 to 6 weeks of twice-daily administration, consider other treatment options. There are no studies using this medication for nasal polyps for over 4 months. 3. Acute Rhinosinusitis Generally administer 2 sprays into each nostril twice a day (total daily dosage 0.4 mg).
1. Allergic Rhinitis (Rhinitis) Children aged 2 to 11: Generally administer 1 spray into each nostril once a day (total daily dosage 0.1 mg).
This medication may not be suitable for certain patients. It should not be administered to anyone who is allergic to this drug or its components or has previously experienced hypersensitivity reactions. Patients with untreated infections in the nasal mucosa, those who have recently undergone nasal surgery, or those with wounds in the nose should also avoid using this medication. Children under 2 years of age should not use this medication, particularly. Patients with respiratory tuberculosis or severe systemic infections, as well as those with herpes simplex in the eyes, should use this medication with caution, as frequent nosebleeds may worsen. Additionally, those at risk of chickenpox or measles or who have unilateral nasal polyps or cystic fibrosis-related nasal polyps need to use this medication carefully, as its effects have not been sufficiently studied. Women who are pregnant, may become pregnant, or are breastfeeding should consult a physician before using this medication. While using this medication, side effects such as headaches, viral infections, pharyngitis, nosebleeds, cough, and upper respiratory infections may occur, and in some patients, side effects can be severe enough to require discontinuation of the medication. Rarely, rashes, nasal irritation, liver dysfunction, headaches, blood parameter changes have been reported, and nasal ulcers or candidiasis may occur upon nasal use, necessitating consultation with a doctor if symptoms persist. This medication is to be used only intranasally, and care must be taken not to spray directly into the eyes or nasal septum. Prolonged high-dose use may result in systemic side effects, thus regular check-ups are necessary. Since there is a risk of exposure to chickenpox or measles while using this medication, prior medical history or vaccination status should be confirmed, and if infection is suspected, immediate consultation with healthcare professionals is advised. When used for children, growth may be affected, so regular monitoring of growth status is necessary, especially for those under the age of 2 for whom safety has not been established. Elderly patients may have decreased bodily functions and should be closely monitored while using this medication. In the case of overdose, specific treatment is generally not required; however, excessive use may affect adrenal function, so caution is advised. Before use, shake the container well and perform a test spray. After use, the specified number of sprays should be followed, or it should be discarded after 2 months.
