Erdosteine 300 mg Capsule

Adult dose

Adults: Administer 300 mg of erdosteine orally per dose 2～3 times daily. When used for acute respiratory disorders, do not administer continuously for more than 10 days.

This medication should not be used by individuals who are allergic to this drug or its components. Patients with liver cirrhosis or cystathionine β-synthase deficiency should not take this medication as its metabolites may affect methionine metabolism. Patients with peptic ulcers should also refrain from using this medication. Patients with severe kidney impairment, especially those with a creatinine clearance of less than 25 mL/min, should avoid using this medication. It is also safe for patients with severe liver impairment not to take this medication. Patients with mild or moderate liver impairment should consume this medication cautiously and ensure that the daily dosage does not exceed 300 mg. Diabetic patients or those on a low-calorie diet should administer the syrup form of this medication carefully. This medication contains D&C Yellow No. 5, which can trigger allergic or hypersensitivity reactions in some patients. Overdose of this medication may result in symptoms such as sweating, dizziness, and flushing. Neurological and respiratory tract adverse reactions such as headache, cold symptoms, and difficulty breathing may occur. Gastrointestinal side effects such as taste disturbance, nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, abdominal pain, and heartburn have also been reported. Allergic reactions on the skin such as hives, erythema, and eczema may occur. Symptoms like fatigue, indigestion, palpitations, facial or generalized swelling, itching, and rashes potentially related to this medication have been reported infrequently. Caution is advised when taken with cough medications as it may hinder phlegm expulsion from the airways, increasing the risk of bronchial infection or bronchospasm. Although animal studies have shown no harmful effects on pregnancy or fetal development, it is advisable for pregnant or breastfeeding women to avoid this medication. This medication should be stored out of the reach of children, and transferring it to another container should be avoided to maintain quality and safety.
