  • Asthma
View approved original text

Using a bronchodilator in combination with an inhaled corticosteroid is very effective in the treatment of asthma. The bronchodilator relaxes the muscles of the airways, making breathing easier, while the inhaled corticosteroid reduces inflammation, alleviating airway obstruction. The combination of these two medications helps to quickly relieve asthma symptoms and controls airway inflammation over the long term. Additionally, this decreases the frequency and severity of asthma attacks and contributes to improving the patient's respiratory function. Therefore, this combination therapy plays an important role in enhancing the overall quality of life for asthma patients.

Precautions

This medication's effects on bronchodilation are typically seen within 10 to 20 minutes. Therefore, it should not be used in patients experiencing an acute asthma attack or severe worsening of asthma, as using this medication in such cases could lead to life-threatening respiratory problems. This medication is not intended for the treatment of acute symptoms of asthma or chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD); other rapidly acting inhalers should be used in these acute situations. Patients who are allergic to any ingredients in this medication, or have certain conditions such as cardiac arrhythmias, untreated lung infections, severe bronchiectasis, or an asthma emergency should not take this medication. Caution is required for patients with a history of heart disease, diabetes, thyroid disease, seizures, tuberculosis, hypokalemia, or liver disease when using this medication. Rarely, severe side effects such as difficulty breathing or bronchospasm may occur after inhalation of this medication, so if symptoms arise, use should be discontinued immediately and a physician should be consulted. Additionally, side effects such as headache, palpitations, nausea, vomiting, muscle pain, rash, and candidiasis may occur due to the ingredients in this medication, so patients should consult a doctor if they experience any unusual symptoms. Asthma patients should regularly discuss their dosage and duration of use with their doctor and should not abruptly stop usage. It is recommended to learn the correct inhalation technique, and after inhalation, rinsing the mouth can help prevent oral candidiasis. Particularly during pregnancy or breastfeeding, administration should only be done after consulting a physician, and children and the elderly should also use this medication cautiously. Additionally, since this medication may interact with other drugs, it is crucial to inform the physician of any other medications being taken. In cases of overdose, serious side effects such as cardiac issues, increased blood sugar, and hypokalemia may occur, so the prescribed dosage must be adhered to. When storing, keep in a cool place out of the reach of children, maintaining a temperature below 30 degrees Celsius.
