This medication is used to treat constipation symptoms in patients with chronic constipation who do not improve with laxative treatment. It effectively alleviates discomfort caused by constipation and helps improve intestinal health.

How to take

Adult dose

This medication is administered orally and can be taken at any time of the day, regardless of meals. Adults take 2 mg once daily. Elderly patients aged 65 and older should take 1 mg once daily as the initial dose and may increase to 2 mg once daily if needed. For patients with severe renal impairment, 1 mg should be administered once daily, while dosage adjustment is not necessary for mild to moderate renal impairment. Precautions

This medication should not be used in certain patients. Individuals allergic to the active ingredient or additives in this medication should not take it. Patients with severely impaired kidney function requiring dialysis should also not use this medication. It is not suitable for patients with structural or functional problems in the intestines or those with severe inflammation. Additionally, individuals with genetic metabolic disorders such as lactose intolerance should not take this medication. Patients with severe kidney impairment should use this medication with caution and a reduced dose. Safety in patients with serious conditions affecting the liver, heart, lungs, or nervous system has not been sufficiently confirmed, so caution is advised. Especially, patients with a history of arrhythmia or ischemic heart disease should be cautious when using this medication. Patients with very poor liver function should also use a reduced dose, and mild liver dysfunction is reported to have little impact. Caution is needed when this medication is used in conjunction with drugs that prolong the QT interval related to heartbeats. Common side effects of this medication include headache and gastrointestinal disturbances such as abdominal pain, nausea, and diarrhea. These symptoms typically occur early in treatment and usually resolve within a few days. Other reported side effects include dizziness, tremors, palpitations, fatigue, and frequent urination. If new palpitations occur, it is essential to consult a doctor. In the case of severe diarrhea, the effectiveness of oral contraceptives may be reduced, so it is advisable to use additional contraceptive methods.
