This medication is used for conditions that make it difficult to expectorate phlegm, such as acute and chronic bronchitis, bronchial asthma, laryngitis, sinusitis, and cystic fibrosis. These conditions may be accompanied by symptoms where inflammation or mucus buildup in the airways causes phlegm to become sticky or difficult to expel. This medication helps thin the mucus so that the phlegm can be expelled more easily, facilitating breathing. Therefore, it is effective for patients who suffer from severe coughing or excessive phlegm.
