This medication contains the artificial sweetener aspartame. Aspartame is broken down in the body into phenylalanine, and it should not be used by individuals with phenylketonuria, a genetic disorder that requires limiting phenylalanine intake. The daily intake of aspartame should be controlled to below the WHO recommended level of 40 mg/kg, and for a 60 kg adult, the maximum daily dosage is 2.4 g. Individuals with hypersensitivity to this medication, those with stomach or duodenal ulcers, and children under 2 years of age should not take this medication. Pregnant women, women who might become pregnant, and breastfeeding women must consult a physician or pharmacist before taking this medication, as there is insufficient safety research on its use in pregnant women and the clarity regarding its excretion in breast milk is lacking. If symptoms of hypersensitivity such as nausea, vomiting, stomatitis, heartburn, diarrhea, hives, itching, rash, headache, tinnitus, or bronchospasm occur during use, the medication should be stopped immediately, and medical advice should be sought. Rarely, serious reactions such as rapid heartbeat, increased blood pressure, or anaphylaxis have also been reported. This medication may reduce the efficacy of oral antibiotics when taken together, so it is advisable to space the doses at least 2 hours apart. Additionally, it is safe not to mix other medications in the solution of this product. Finally, this medication should be kept out of reach of children and stored in its original container to maintain quality and ensure safe use.
