Precautions

This drug is an antibiotic that works by inhibiting the synthesis of bacterial cell walls and killing bacteria. Before using this drug, individuals who have previously experienced severe allergic reactions or shock from this drug or similar classes of antibiotics should not use it. Additionally, caution is advised for those with allergies to penicillin antibiotics or a constitution prone to allergic symptoms such as asthma, skin rash, or hives. Patients with severely impaired kidney function, those who are malnourished, the elderly, or those in poor overall health should be closely monitored as there is a risk of bleeding due to vitamin K deficiency. Patients with a history of gastrointestinal diseases, especially colitis, should use this drug with caution. This drug can rarely cause severe allergic reactions like shock or anaphylaxis, so if symptoms occur, discontinue use immediately and seek appropriate treatment. Severe reactions may appear on the skin, so if symptoms such as rash, blisters, or peeling skin occur, discontinue use immediately. Routine blood tests may reveal a decrease in white blood cells or platelets, and if abnormalities are found, the drug should be discontinued. As this drug can affect liver or kidney function, appropriate measures should be taken if there are signs of liver dysfunction or decreased kidney function. Gastrointestinal symptoms such as nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, and abdominal pain may occur, and severe colitis may rarely develop, so these symptoms should be monitored carefully. Respiratory symptoms such as pneumonia or shortness of breath may rarely occur, requiring discontinuation of the drug and treatment if breathing difficulties worsen. Central nervous system symptoms may include anxiety, restlessness, dizziness, and drowsiness, so caution is needed if these symptoms arise. Long-term use of this drug may lead to oral or vaginal fungal infections, so any symptoms should be reported. Bleeding tendencies may occur due to vitamin K deficiency, so patients should be vigilant for bleeding symptoms, and headaches, itching, or vaginitis may also occur rarely. This drug should only be used for the minimum necessary duration to prevent the development of resistant bacteria, and allergy histories should be verified thoroughly before use. There may be drug interactions, especially if this drug is taken with probenecid, medications affecting the kidneys, anticoagulants, oral contraceptives, or certain other antibiotics. Use during pregnancy or lactation should be carefully considered, and lactating mothers should be cautious as the drug may be transmitted in small amounts to breast milk. This drug is not recommended for infants, especially those under 1 month of age, as safety has not been established. The elderly may exhibit more side effects due to decreased physical function, so dosage and intervals should be adjusted and used cautiously. This drug may affect some clinical test results, so it is important to inform healthcare providers of its use during examinations.
